And just like that, summer is in the books and another hockey season is upon us. It’s hard to believe that this will be our 22nd year of hockey pools. The weekly cost is just $2 per entry, and the format is very simple, just select the winners of the upcoming weekend games. Results are normally posted every Monday morning. There will be 21 weeks this season with a break for the Olympic Games. We will forgo the first weekend to allow everyone to settle in. Week 1 tickets will be issued on October 14th.
The Brookfield Athletic Association uses this fundraiser and others such as the Sports Draw (Big Game Hunt) and Whing Ding to support athletics in the area. This year saw the BAA support 195 kids in the minor ball program, 100+ kids in the minor hockey program, Junior B hockey, men’s fastpitch, adult bowling, Elk Park upkeep, curling, SCA athletic awards, lacrosse, and volleyball. The BAA also helped with the expenses for the five local ball players who were chosen to represent Canada at the U18 championships in Argentina beginning this week.
Pool treasurer Nancy VanTassell, [email protected] (673-2070), will work with you to set up a payment collection option that is convenient.
